Torres Blancas (Francisco Javier Saenz de Oiza)
Torres Blancas, designed by F.J. Saenz de Oiza is one of the most complicated and innovative concrete structures in the Spanish 60s/70s.
To highlight the strength and inherent beauty of concrete, Sáenz de Oiza chose a shape that resembled the organic growth patterns of trees: the main volumes are conceived through cylindrical shapes that are born in small circular shapes.
As a curiosity, the façade was at first conceived to be coated with white marbel but the proposal was left behind due to budget problems.
